Past
This site was originally concieved back in 2001 under a former moniker. It was poorly written, poorly designed, but alas, it was a start. After many designs and redesigns, the site became known as "orphy online" (orphy being a longtime nickname I earned at school) circa 2002, and featured many rants, reviews, and even general nonsense. There was a point where a small forum was included. I ended up buying the domain orphy.com circa 2003. After a fairly sucessful run, the site was terminated sometime around mid 2005.
Present
In mid 2006 I resurrected this website as "NIHILITY" and ended up buying the domain orphy.net. From then on, I made the goal of this website relatively simple: to focus on reviewing metal albums, writing articles, and being a general outlet for any other writings I had in mind. In mid 2008, I decided to revert back to a site entirely coded by myself instead of Wordpress as content was somehow disappearing on the website. This website was coded entirely by myself using a combination of CSS, PHP, and a little HTML to hold it together. Every review, article, rant, and feature has been written by myself, some dating back a few years.
Why NIHILITY?
I chose the name "NIHILITY" because I felt that best expressed how I feel in regards to the world. As a reader of nihilism and a fan of metal, I feel that there is no absolute truth other than that fact itself. Most of what I write relates to these ideas, and especially because metal music takes a lot of inspiration of nihilism and various incarnations of it.
Future
The future of this website is dictated entirely by me. I do not advertise, nor do I place banners on it, so it's all up to me in regards to if its run or not. Often I get very busy in my real life and thus the frequency of updates becomes rather low. However, there is no plans to ever remove this website, as I enjoy having an outlet for my writings. The goal of this website has come down to getting people into good music, and allowing their minds to work a bit harder.
