A Quick Biography
My name is Derek Orthner. I was born in Saskatoon, later moving to Alberta, and currently residing in the city of Edmonton. Through my childhood I came to many paths that fundamentally changed the way I think and shaped who I am today. I went to a Christian school as well as attended church early on in my school years. Fast forward a few years when I started to get into guitar and metal (circa sixth/seventh grade), I started to question religion and many of the fundamentals I was bought up with. I ended up rejecting religion and diving deeper into heavy metal, and working harder and playing music. By highschool I had developed an everlasting hunger for metal, as well as an interest in nihilism and occult imagery. In early 2006 I joined a black/death metal band called Begrime Exemious which keeps me busy until this day. I've been involved in several other projects over the years but none that amounted to much while I was involved.

It should be obvious from this site that I'm a fanatic about heavy metal and its extreme offshots. Early 90s death metal has captured me the most out of everything, some of my favourite bands from that movement include Incantation, Immolation, Cryptopsy, Entombed, Cianide, Darkthrone, and Amorphis. Other bands I've really come to be a long term fan of include Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Nasum, Deathspell Omega, Lust, and millions of others. Aside from music (jamming, writing, listening, etc), I spend most of my time hanging out with good friends and creating good times.
